Raviteja's VEERA First Look

Ravi Teja is all set to appear as Veera, a warrior, in Tolly2Holly’s next production in the direction of Ramesh Varma. Fresh from the success of Ride, Ramesh Varma is starting this big budgeted film in summer 2010. The first look is here. The film has great crew including hotshot music director Devi Sri Prasad composing songs and Sam K Naidu handling the camera. Parachuri Brothers pen the dialogues. Ganesh Indukuri is producing it.

Synopsis

From the misty pages of history comes a story of extreme valour, fierce pride and poignant love. As the British enslave India with their devious Divide and Rule policy, kings and nawabs fall to their guile and cunning, and entrust their precious kingdom to the foreigners. Salman Khan: Veer

Impetuous in action, emotional in love, a tiger in battle… Veer encompasses all that is brave, heroic and true. When asked to make the toughest decision of his life – what will he choose his true love or his call of duty?


Mithun Chakroborty: Prithvi Singh

The proud head of the Pindaris, he has vowed to avenge the deception that cost his tribe their land and their reputation, forcing them to be on the run forever.

Jackie Shroff: Raja of Madhavgarh

He cheated the Pindaris to please the British but lost his arm. Thirsting for revenge he has sworn to hunt the Pindaris down, little realizing that his daughter is in love with the bravest of them all.

Sohail Khan: Punya

Loyal to the core, he is Veer’s shadow and like Laxman he will follow his elder brother Veer to the ends of the earth if need be. He loves to flirt, but he loves to fight even more.

Zarine Khan: Princess Yashodhara

Story

A long drawn tale, the story is set on the backdrop of the British Raj and while all kings and small rulers are snared by the British and their kingdoms are taken, there is one clan who defy them. They are the tribal clan of Pindaris who believe in death before dishonour and among them is the fierce and brave warrior Veer (Salman). He stands against the British Empire and not only that, he has obstacles in the form of the Raja of Madhavgarh (Jackie), his own people, his love for princess Yashodhara (zarine) who is the daughter of his enemy. Whether Veer is successful in his battle or not forms the rest of the story.

Presentation

The director has come up with a flimsy storyline and though the presentation was good the narrative was weak. The script was spineless, the screenplay was horrendous, the dialogues were alright. The saving grace comes in the form of background score which is apt, two songs which are neat, amazing cinematography and excellent action sequences. Editing was required at many places, costumes were grand and art department was majestic. Salman Khan did his best to infuse life into the film but then his brand value alone could not suffice, Zarine Khan was straight faced but she is beautiful, Jackie Shroff was good, Mithun was okay, Sohail Khan was below average, Neena Gupta was regular, Puru Rajkumar doesn't get much chance, the other foreign actors were plastic.

Conclusion

The makers have come up with a mix of many Hollywood movies which are warrior based and mixed it with the desi elements to give the nativity feel. While the opening takes off brilliantly, the film starts collapsing as time passes. By interval, it is gone. The second half adds to the woes of the viewers with dragged sentiments and overdose of climax. Overall, the film scores on the technical aspects and production values but it fails miserably due to lack of a systematic story and poor writing. Given the budget, it is hard for the film to survive at the box office.

  Verdict: Weak and dragging, only efforts can be appreciated.

HOW Amitabh Bachchan became AURO in PAA

The most Herculean task about the latest release PAA was transforming a 67-year old Amitabh Bachchan into 13-year old child Auro, suffering from a rare disorder called progeria.
So come let's take a short run-through over how Amitabh became Auro.

The prosthetic makeup, as we know, has been done by Hollywood's Christien Tinsley (THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, CATWOMAN) and Dominie Till (THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY).

According to the reports Bachchan's make-up cost 10 per cent of the total budget.
It is learnt that it used to take four to five hours daily for Amitabh Bachchan's makeup to be done for his film PAA.
Not only this, if it used to take four hours to put on the make-up then two hours to remove it.
There are eight different layers of clay which has been put in his make up in the film.
While applying the make up he cannot eat, drink and talk for four hours.
Big B wore specially designed dentures so as to effortlessly replicate the voice of a 13-year old child.
He wore the dentures throughout the film's shooting and also had them on while dubbing.
Infact he has also sung a song in his voice wearing these dentures, which sounds like a child
