Daggubati Rana, who is making his Bollywood debut with Dum Maro Dum finds a tutor in Bipasha Basu, his co star in this film. As Rana’s Hindi is not well versed, Bipasha stepped into his rescue and has been trying to get his Hindi right.

However, Bipasha is not fluent with the language too. But as she has immense experience in Hindi cinema, she is helping out her co star.

‘He picked up the language quicker than I assumed. Of course he will get doubts about some words. If he asks for any particular word from now, I will charge a fee’ Bipasha laughed.

PRINCE movie REVIEW ... Vivek Oberoi failed once again

Vivek Oberoi’s dreams to make it big as a solo hero shattered with his Prince biting dust at the box office. The film, which is touted to be one of the biggest budget films of the season, was released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. But the first day reports and reviews proved that this film will end as a damp squib at the box office.

Age old plot, foolish scenes, silly treatment marred the chances of Prince and sadly Vivek will have to shift his hopes on to his upcoming film Rakta Charitra.
Excessive skin show by the lead ladies in Prince too didn’t attract many as the openings were very little all over India. The film is an instant flop in overseas too. Bad luck, Vivek!

SINDHU MENON .. TOLLY 2 HOLLY

Actress Sindhu Menon, who has marked her place in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, is now on a trip to conquer Hollywood, the actress has not one but tow projects at a time. When contacted, Sindhu accepted that she has two English projects in the pipeline and will be seeing herself on Hollywood silver screen by early next year.

Sindhu Menon will be acting in her first English film, which is being directed by Brad peter. This international project is already on floors and sindhu was busy shuttling between UK, US and India last month. This movie is yet to be titled and sindhu plays the character of an Indian woman, who falls for an English guy.

The second project of Sindhu will start from July and will be on floors from October this year. This movie demands sindhu as a chubby girl and so, sindhu is busy putting on weight these days.

Sindhu has also clarified that she will not neglect Indian films and will also do them simultaneously.

POLICE POLICE review .... Spineless script makes these Policemen weak!

Sriram, has few films in Telugu in the past and our audience can identify him. The other hero in this film Prithviraj is least known in AP. However, he is quite a busy actor in Tamil and also a big star in Malayalam. There is Kamalini and Sanjana to shoulder the glamour department. Frankly speaking, none of the above stars has that crowd pulling appeal and the result is evident in the form of opening show collections. Police Police opened to a very low or almost nil crowds on Friday.

But it managed to catch some curious eyes and made them buy the ticket. So, does this film satisfy the audiences who spent some money and spared some time? The answer is mostly ‘No’. This film isn’t a racy action entertainer. Perhaps, it is far distant from the word entertainment. Telugu audiences are no aliens for cop films. They have watched many cop films in the past. So, when a director decides to make a cop film he should see that this film is ‘different’ from all the earlier police films. Sadly, the script of Police Police screams for betterment. The screenplay asks for clarity. The pace of the film yearns for acceleration. 

It is no different from any cop film we’ve watched n times by now. It is just a fight between a good cop and a bad cop. The director lost the track right from the beginning, mainly due to the inconsistent screenplay. Scenes end abruptly and take off in the same manner. One will get confused of what’s going on the screen. The screenplay is so bad that you hardly notice the first plot point (The scene where the villain’s identity is revealed). But because of the confusion in the screenplay, this scene doesn’t make any impact.

The flashback of the protagonist doesn’t click and seems like completely out of place. For few minutes you feel like watching a television serial. Again, the interval block is forced. Who the hell came out of the blue and attacked the hero? No answers, no logics, no nothing… it is just an interval bang!

Second half starts off better with a kidnap episode. But again the screenplay loses track as there is no driving factor in the story. Pre climax scenes looked promising and again there is so much lag towards the end.

Director Manmohan concentrated more on style than substance. For a first timer one should agree that it is a good show. His shot making showed lot of promise and the manner he handled the film is good. But it is the script, which is also written by him has let the film down. The graph never picks up and it continuously rises and falls beneath the ‘average’ bar. If Manmohan can get the script right next time, he will be one of the directors to watch out for. 

Production values are good. Music by Vishwa is not lilting in songs. However, the background score lifted the film in many scenes. Camera work is okay and so is the editing.

Sriram is good as a sincere cop but it is Prithviraj who steals the show. He is wonderful as the bad cop. He can express any emotion through his powerful eyes. Great work man! Kamalini’s role is very limited. She did an okay job. Sanjana’s role looked like it got edited at the last moment. There is nothing to say about her. The guy who did the role of Imran is average. All others including Brahmaji, Ahuti Prasad, Shiva Krishna, Prasad Babu did their best to the director’s needs.

What works?

The ‘new age Rajendra Prasad’ Allari Naresh has arrived with yet another comedy treat in a different role but whether his bets worked on the audience or not, let us see
 
Story:
Bangarraju (Naresh) is known for his betting activities and he is destined with a golden spoon of luck, what we call ‘Sudi’. His life takes a turn when he decides to marry a city girl and chances upon Divya (Nidhi) when he reaches the city. He proposes to her and is surprised to know there are three others (Amit, Samrat, Sri Akshay) in the race. Divya invites all of them for a test. Who wins the test forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Allari Naresh, as usual was at his best but this time, there was not much punch or satire in his dialogues, otherwise he shouldered the film well.

Nidhi has beautiful eyes and very sweet expressions but then she may not be the heroine material so it could be that she might have a small innings, otherwise her performance is good.

Amit looks handsome and his dialogue delivery is also strong. He fits the role very well and he can take up few meatier roles and for a change anything with positive traits will do him good.

Samrat is tall and handsome but has a strained body language. If he can pump some confidence in his body language then it could work well

Sri Akshay have good looks and also performed satisfactorily well with his dialogue delivery and other aspects of acting.

Raghu Babu has a busy day and he entertains to a great extent, Krishna Bhagawan was witty, Kota was standard, the ladies did their bit as required. Pilla Prasad, Vijay Sai were okay. The character of ‘Savam’ was hilarious. Chalapathi Rao, L B, Venu, Duvvasi did their bit as required and added value. 

Analysis:

The film is basically a comedy treat and enough attempts have been made to keep the smile intact on the faces of the audience. The dialogues were witty at few places, but the script was lengthy and the screenplay was above average.


Cinematography was neat, background score was okay and one song is worth taking home. Editing was required at key points. The film suffers mainly due to three different backdrops (Gribabu episode, Krishna Bhagawan episode and village episode) so connecting to the scenes takes time.


Also, the pace of the film was mild and if there was speed in it, the impact would have been much stronger. But still, with some interesting sequences and involved performances, Bangarraju has it all score profits in the box office. Perhaps the producer should have opened his purse and spend a little of his money on bringing in more branded artists to give that crowd pulling factor.

 
Bottom line: Okay, can be watched.
